Bungee junk mail

A few days ago a catalogue for homewares was put through my door. There was an order form enclosed and a note saying it would be collected a few days later.

I wasn’t interested in anything in the catalogue; I don’t recall ever buying anything from it in the past and, to be honest, I get so much junk mail every day it’s very hard to feel motivated to co-operate with a request to return it – especially if it’s suggested I might leave it outside my front door. Sorry, but I don’t want to advertise to every passer-by when I’m not at home!

Somewhat inevitably, I wasn’t around when they called to collect the catalogue… so a further note saying they would come back again in a few days was stuffed through my door.

So now I feel ever so slightly guilty for not being around to give the unsolicited junk mail that was put through my door back to the person who delivered it in the first place.

It’s not that I begrudge them the chance to make a few quid this way but, honestly, this makes me less inclined to even read the catalogue in the first place. Am I the only one who feels like this represents a somewhat flawed business plan…?
