Ancient wisdom for today (19)

August 19th 2012, Day 19, Proverbs 19

“Take good counsel and accept correction – that’s the way to live wisely and well” Proverbs 19: 20 (The Message)

Another version (The NIV) of this expresses the verse this way; “Listen to advice and accept instruction and in the end you will be wise”

No matter how much love and care is involved in bringing correction into another person’s life, they always have a choice whether or not to humble themselves a little and accept what’s been said.

But in the right context that cost can be softened and one of the reasons I love reading through this book regularly is that I’m hoping that some of it’s ancient wisdom will ‘land’ and influence my thinking so that I might end up just a bit little wiser.

With years of experience playing bass in a wide range of situations a dear friend once said that if you were to cut me in half you'd find the word 'bass' written all the way through - yes I know that's so cliche - but that doesn't make it any less true! Like so many people I have more than one 'day' job - but most of my work-time these days is spent working for Interconnected Solutions.
