Ancient wisdom for today (11)

August 11th 2012, Day 11, Proverbs 11

“Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful face on an empty head.” Proverbs 11: 22 (The Message)

Oops – another one that’s kinda hard to dodge.

I expect you’ve come across the idea (that’s been floating around for quite a while now) that most people find faces that are ‘average’ more beautiful than ones that are ‘striking’ and it’s interesting to see that there is also research that seems to suggest that the truth is a little more complicated than that.

In any event, hopefully we’ve moved (or are moving) beyond the idea that attractive people shouldn’t need to worry their ‘pretty head’ about important things; that your face can be your fortune – but even though old habits tend to die hard, there really is no excuse for not taking responsibility for using the intellect you’ve been gifted with.

With years of experience playing bass in a wide range of situations a dear friend once said that if you were to cut me in half you'd find the word 'bass' written all the way through - yes I know that's so cliche - but that doesn't make it any less true! Like so many people I have more than one 'day' job - but most of my work-time these days is spent working for Interconnected Solutions.
