August 3rd 2012, Day 3, Proverbs 3
“Don’t walk around with a chip on your shoulder, always spoiling for a fight. Don’t be like those who shoulder their way through life…” Proverbs 3:31 (The Message)
I was struck by this idea of people shouldering their way through life – you know the kind of folk, the ones who are so focussed on their agenda, their life, their priorities that the rest of us have an occasional function to provide something they want but are otherwise a complete nuisance and just ‘in their way’ or even worse a completely irrelevant background to the ‘grand scheme’ of their lives.
I recall reading of a perfect example of this; someone’s Tweet a few days ago[1. I’m sorry that I can’t recall who it was as I’d like to give them credit – but when I tried to search Twitter for “watch where you’re going” I discovered it’s clearly a bigger problem than I thought… in fact you really don’t need me to say any more about this – just run the same Twitter search for “watch where you’re going” that I did – you’ll see for yourself just how many folk out there have slipped into <angry mode>.] about some guy bumping into them because he was too busy texting to safely navigate his own path and then telling them to look where they’re going.
Let’s try to walk through life more aware of those around us and value each other a little more than that…
