Business as usual?

At the beginning of a recent meeting with some of my work-colleagues we took a moment to reflect on some of the situations we’d come through together before turning our attention to planning for the future.

One of my colleagues said that he had one question going round and round in his head, “is it just going to be business as usual?”

I’m not particularly into ‘New Year resolutions’ but as I come to the end of this year (knowing already that the next has some built-in challenges waiting for me) I find myself wondering the same thing, “is 2012 just going to be business as usual?”

I don’t know about you, but I’m looking for more from 2012 than 2011 delivered.

I’ve also heard a few people recently quoting the well known saying, “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

Maybe there is some value in New Year resolutions after all – clearly if I want more from 2012 I’m not going to get very far if I don’t start by deciding that my approach to the coming year had better not be ‘business as usual!’

How about you?

With years of experience playing bass in a wide range of situations a dear friend once said that if you were to cut me in half you'd find the word 'bass' written all the way through - yes I know that's so cliche - but that doesn't make it any less true! Like so many people I have more than one 'day' job - but most of my work-time these days is spent working for Interconnected Solutions.
