"God’s moving furniture around…"

Change is here to stay (or revisiting “All change please”)…

One afternoon, a couple of months ago, I heard the distant sound of thunder and it reminded me how someone once told me that their mum used to say that it was only the sound of God moving the furniture around in heaven (presumably to stop them being too frightened).

This came back to me again this week, when, having sorted through and archived an enormous stack of paperwork I started thinking about whether re-arranging my office would help make it a more creative space. So far I haven’t come up with an answer; the amount of stuff in there rather limits choice for optimum arrangement…

It’s surprising the number of conversations I’ve had with folk recently who are reporting major changes in their lives – things that they never expected to change. Looking back over the last 18 months that’s been my experience too (and looking forward I can see the possibility of more to come) – but (as I suspect I may find with my office) changes, even those involving the unexpected loss of something, can be viewed as an opportunity for a fresh burst of creativity.

With years of experience playing bass in a wide range of situations a dear friend once said that if you were to cut me in half you'd find the word 'bass' written all the way through - yes I know that's so cliche - but that doesn't make it any less true! Like so many people I have more than one 'day' job - but most of my work-time these days is spent working for Interconnected Solutions.
